Maud Sauer

Tiblist Maud Sauer (1952) studied oboe at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in the nineteen-seventies. She then made a name for herself as an improvising musician (which, on oboe, is unusual to this day) and soloist, and as member of prominent ensembles like the Maarten Altena Quartet and Oktet, the Guus Jansen Septet, the Maud Sauer Quintet and the international women's improvisation group Canaille. She has been part of the Amsterdam cobla since it was founded in 1987. She got tible advice from a.o. Salvador Parés (tible-player of Cobla de Cambra de Catalunya and Companyia Elèctrica Dharma), Francesc Castillo (teacher at the conservatory of Terrassa) en Jordi Molina. In 1995, she wrote the exciting El Drac de l'Estany for this cobla. She also composed work for all sorts of other ensembles. In 2002, her cd Ergens/Ooit (EA001) was released.
